What could I understand when my client changes her instructions?
────────────
A female client who has experienced sexual trauma may appear uncertain or change her instructions throughout the legal process.
There can be many reasons for this.
Sexual trauma influences how a survivor processes information, weighs decisions, or responds to ongoing stress.
A trauma-informed approach does not mean changing your legal responsibilities.
It means recognizing that important decisions can feel overwhelming and creating space for questions while continuing to provide clear legal advice.
Supporting your client through the legal process and referring for specialized sexual trauma counselling are different roles—but they can work together.
