If Someone Had Believed You: A Message to Teen Girls Healing from Sexual Abuse

What if, when you told someone what happened, they believed you?

What if the first response you received was not doubt, anger, blame, or silence—but compassion?

What if someone looked at you and said:

1. “I believe you."

2. “This was not your fault."

3. “You deserve to be protected."

4. “You are still worthy of love, respect, and a future.”

How might that have changed the way you saw yourself?

The Pain That Often Comes After Abuse

For many teen girls who experience sexual abuse, the hardest part is not only what happened—it is what happens afterward. It is the loneliness of carrying something painful.

It is wondering whether anyone will understand. It is feeling like you have to defend your truth or convince others that your experience matters.

You should never have had to carry that alone.

At Our Practice, We Believe Survivors

At our practice, we believe survivors first. Period. Full stop.

We believe teen girls deserve to be met with care, compassion, and respect. We believe your voice matters. We believe your feelings matter. We believe that what happened to you does not define your worth.

The Impact of Sexual Abuse

When a young girl experiences sexual abuse, it can affect how she sees herself, her relationships, her body, and her future. She may begin to question her instincts, her value, or whether she can trust others.

You Are More Than What Happened

But the truth is: You are not what happened to you. You are not the words someone used to hurt you. You are not the blame someone placed on you. You are a person who deserves safety, support, and the opportunity to discover who you are.

How Counselling Can Help

Our counselling support is designed to help teen girls begin to rebuild what has been taken away:

1.Trust.  — Learning to reconnect with your own voice, feelings, and instincts.

2.Dignity — Remembering that you are valuable and deserving of respect.

3.Self-worth — discovering that you are worthy of care, kindness, and a future that feels like your own.

We understand that healing is not about pretending the pain never happened.

Healing is about having a safe space to process what happened, understand yourself with compassion, and begin imagining a future shaped by your own choices.

You Don't Have to Prove Your Pain

We want you to know: You do not have to be alone with what happened to you.

You do not have to prove what happened to you in order to deserve support.

You do not have to have everything figured out.

We are here to walk alongside you.

We are here to listen.

We are here to believe you.

Because every girl deserves to grow up knowing she matters, that her voice deserves to be heard, and that healing is possible.
